Kolby Kostyniuk is a Saskatchewan based filmmaker and writer. In 2016 he received his BFA with Distinction from the University of Regina in Film Production, with a minor in Creative Technologies. His focus is on narrative filmmaking, but he continues to develop an interest in expanded cinema and screen based installation, with a particular interest in alternatives to fictional filmmaking and the adaptation of narrative structures both inside and outside the black box. Egg, Kolby’s 2014 screen based installation, was featured in Station 2 of Meet in the Middle, the #3CityLink exhibition at the 5th Parallel Gallery. In 2015/2016 he wrote and directed his neo-noir inspired short film Dreamers, which was nominated for Best Student Film at the 2016 Saskatchewan Independent Film Awards and later won Best of Saskatchewan at the 2017 Living Skies Student Film Festival. He has also been nominated for two Golden Sheaf Awards at the Yorkton Film Festival. Kolby lives in Saskatoon, SK and is proud to be part of the growing Saskatchewan film community.
